There are quite a few instances where you have a (pretty strict) timelimit to solve a puzzle and while that’s fine, it does make the game less accessible. If there’s one thing I can hold against the game, it’s the overreliance on timing based puzzles.

It’s a good motivator to replay a level as outside of experiencing the wonderful adventure a second time, there normally wouldn’t be that much replay value. The really clever (and fast) players are also rewarded, with some achievements requiring a quick playthrough and others asking that you solve puzzles without a single mistake.

The first few levels were simple enough, I only needed to remind myself that I had the ability to walk up walls (you’d think that would be a revelation important enough to remember), but I have to admit I got a bit stumped by the penultimate level and The Crypt DLC and had to resort to a guide to get through them. The 'wow factor' from this one is an exhilarating reactive emotion for many of these unique, dimension bending solutions. You’ll need to train your memory, recognise patterns hidden in plain sight and backtrack through the levels with newly acquired items. DARQ Complete Edition for the Nintendo Switch is a joy to play if you like creative, physics-based puzzlers with a touch of platforming. It’s also the level the design that makes the puzzles a bit harder to solve that you’d initially expect. DARQ SWITCH REVIEW SERIES
On the 25th of March, developer Unfold Games released the next-gen “Complete Edition” of DARQ unto the PS5 and the Xbox Series X|S (now with the help of publisher Feardemic ) and since I was looking to get some value out of my new hardware, I thought I might as well dive into this nightmare. At some point DARQ even made it to the Top 50 most wishlisted games on Steam (and yes, that includes AAA titles) so I guess the numbers back up his strategy and skill. I applaud his strong will and it became evident that the developer had a clear vision that he wasn’t willing to budge from. I had read a few articles about the game and its developer, because it made the headlines with titles such as “solo-developer turned down over 12 publishers” and “DARQ developer turned down exclusivity offer from Epic Games”. With grim aesthetics that reminded me of Tim Burton movies like Corpse Bride and the levels rotating and flipping around with incredible animations and audio design, it got pinned as a “must-play” somewhere in the back of my head, yet managed to stay in the review backlog until now. Surprisingly there is DLC for this game, two chapters to add on to the over all game. When the world really does revolve around youĮver since I first saw clips of DARQ being shared on Twitter, it had me hooked. I felt almost empty after finishing this lovely little story, as it made me want more. An abstract adventure where you manipulate the world by literally flipping it sideways, upside-down, and all around while searching for keys and lost puzzle pieces. A lot of it doesn’t make sense until you’re about midway into the game, but it is very grasping. DARQ: Complete Edition, by developer Unfold Games and publisher Feardemic, is the result of a passionate one-night stand between Little Nightmares and the entire Silent Hill series. The time has nothing on the story itself, which is both compelling and addicting. This game is pretty short, maybe 4 or 5 hours of main story game play. Its a mouth-watering aesthetic, if Tim Burton-like visuals (as a quick reference) are your kind of thing, and just as attractive as its a game from Feardemic. It’s definitely something to check out, even if you won’t be. Its greyscale art style adds to its overwhelmingly gothic vibe while providing puzzles that are difficult enough to force you to pause yet easy enough to solve. It truly helps DARQ stick out from the crowd, Nintendo Switch seems to be a secondary favorite outlet to Indie Developers. Darq isn’t the most difficult puzzle game out there, but it does excel in all uniqueness categories.

DARQ SWITCH REVIEW PC
Personally, it’s one of my more favorite genres of Indie games, which are more often on PC than consoles. This game is what I would categorize as a psychological horror puzzle game. Walk too quickly and step into the light, you’ll be shot at viciously from the dark. Turn your back for too long, and the ‘Mother’ type creature could sneak up behind you and consume you. DARQ Complete Edition Trailer & Release Date Reveal PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X & C, Switch, PC DARQ tells the story of Lloyd, a boy who becomes aware of the. Not only does this game contain a multitude of different puzzles, but it also reveals enemies that become a reoccurring theme within Lloyd’s mind.
